2006 Objets Perdus

View Body of Work

Objets Perdus, examines how narratives mediate our understanding of identity and the world we inhabit.  The work developed through the readdressing of a found narrative, and is literally the reclaiming of this lost series of images.  In this sense, the positions of the author and viewer have been displaced, the role of ownership of the images shifting through the act of lost and found.  The series of 35 images was installed and viewed in the exact order in which the images were photographed.  While conceptualized as the meeting point between the personal snapshot and the subjectivity of paint, the work, in its entirety, can also be understood as being a mini-film, with each of the images representing an individual still of a time-based work.
